It's not about that.

How I use AI

AI slop is everywhere. I see it more and more on group posts here. I suspect people even use it to respond to topics. It is very clear when people use it to build a complete presentation.

I want to be transparent about how I use AI.

  • do not use it for composing any of my editorial or creative writing outside of grammar and punctuation checks.
  • do not use it to give me ideas for editorial writing, group posts or replies, or presentations.
  • do use it to spit out an initial presentation outline after I have prompted it my topic and thoughts in a pretty detailed way. I find this helpful because I have unmedicated ADD and writing organized outlines is a barrier for me to actually complete anything.
  • do not use it to do anything more than the prompted outline on any presentations. All the rest of it is me,
  • Exception to that last point: I have a presentation that is pretty GenX (since I’m GenX and my audiences so far have been relatively GenX). I will be presenting it to Whippersnappers (Atlanta TNG group) and needed some help making GenZ-specific tweaks.

I pay for my AI. I subscribe to Anthropic’s tools. They are a substantially more ethical company than any of the other AI providers and I’m happy to give them some money to support that. The tools they have are way better too.
